What is play?
Children learn
about the world, their surroundings and their
capabilities through play. It leads them to
interact with the environment and those around
them, teaching vitally important life lessons
about themselves and others.
Childhood development experts around the globe
agree that play is an essential part of
childhood. Play challenges a child’s thought
and creativity; exercising their brains as well as
their bodies. Not only does it help to
refine their language and communication skills, it
helps children to form and build relationships
with others.
Obviously play should be a safe activity, yet
controlled risk taking can be beneficial. As
in life, play should represent challenges that
will teach children that life can be
unpredictable. In a study conducted by the UK
Mental Health Foundation it was found that over
protective parents who prevented risk taking,
inhibited the emotional development of their
child.
Let them be kids!
All children need a safe environment in which
to test and explore their skills - somewhere that
they can run, jump, climb, build and move without
constraint. So much can be gained and
learned though play experiences which is often
overlooked. Children should be placed in
stimulating surroundings where the only limitation
is their imagination.
By opening an indoor soft adventure play area
from SPI Play you can be assured that the children
who are growing up in the world today have this
kind of stimulation in their world. A well
built play area presents ideal play opportunities
and provides inspiring scenarios that allow a
child’s creativity to flourish.
